Biscuits and Breezers

Welcome back to another blog for Biscuits and Breezers!  Here is another post for the College Spotlight series and today I will be reviewing St.Olaf College forward Joey Sundgren!

Biscuits and Breezers' College Spotlight Player:
Joey Sundgren

Height: 5 ft 10 in
Weight: 170 lbs
Hometown: Cedar Park, Texas, USA

If you have never watched Joey Sundgren play, now is the time to start. Joey is an absolutely phenomenal skater and is out of this world with the puck. His puck and stick handling skills are very impressive, but the attribute that deserves the most recognition is his shot on goal. He is always planning where the biscuit needs to go and at what moment in time it will get there most successfully. Sundgren dissects the game into individual steps that need to be accomplished and doesn't stop until every step is done to the best of his ability. The other thing that you need to know when watching Joey play is his level of hockey intelligence. It is absolutely out of the roof and you can see that in how executes his plays. Instead of trying to beat the game or playing with whatever it throws at him, he takes in every thing that is going on around him similar to let's say a very well tuned technical program, and that is how he assesses how the play will proceed from there on out. Joey knows which players to avoid, which players to dangle, and where the best place to beat the tendy is to light the lamp. He will fit in perfectly with the college hockey scene because he is already at that highly competitive level and will be in the fight all the way. Joeys plays a quick and tough game but one that is backboned with strength, finesse on the ice, and intelligence. At this point in time leading up from juniors and transitioning into college hockey, Sundgren definitely resembles Zach Parise back in his days at UND. Strong leader with a scoring touch. Joey was most certainly a stand out player when played in the NAHL and the WSHL and many of his skills that he has taken from his junior seasons will aid him in the highly competitive world of college hockey. Going back to the Parise comparison, it is in my opinion that Joey Sundgren resembles Zach Parise also due to his determination. Sundgren knows what he wants and where he wants to go with the sport. He is always 100% committed to his team but Joey doesn't stop until he is victorious. Great potential to be a phenomenal college skater.

Best of luck Joey with St. Olaf! Have a great season!

Spotlight Player Emil Travergard       Biscuits and Breezers         Welcome back to another blog for Biscuits and Breezers! This is another post for the Spotlight Player series, and the player featured today, is a prime example of the defensive qualities that are capable in blue liners. Trending on an upward slope, this particular player brings fire to the ice as well as quite the chill. He may be an independent skater, but he is almost always his team's biggest supporter in the long run. The next Spotlight Player is Haninge Anchors defenseman Emil Travergard!     Emil Travergard - Haninge Anchors (D)   Height: 6 ft 2 in  Weight:  215 lbs Hometown: Stockholm, Sweden 2013-2014 Stats: 1 goal in 23 games played, 3 assists, 4 TPs, and 14 PIMs with Hammarby J20         While watching Travergard on the ice during his stay in the WSHL, he certainly brought a spar...
Jamie Zaleski Biscuits and Breezers    Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! Today you will be able to meet and get to know FHL Danville Dashers center Jamie Zaleski a little bit better. You don't come across a player very often that is so passionate about the sport that he takes immense pride in every game he plays or every time he represents his team, but today I believe I was able to talk to one of those chosen few. Jamie is an amazing player who beams passion and talent every time he walks onto the ice for a game and when you see him play, I guarantee that by the end of the game you will be as stunned as I was when I first watched a Dashers game. Zaleski is the perfect player seeing that he has the ideal combinations of aggressive and physical plays, speed, and can score whenever it needs be. I have seen some pretty aggressive players in my time but Jamie Zaleski is the definition of aggression out on the ice. His hits are almost alway...
#3 Biscuits and Breezers Welcome back to Biscuits and Breezers! In this blog, we will be discussing the Washington vs. New York series and the St. Louis vs. Los Angeles series. Starting off with the Washington vs. New York series. With the series now tied at 2-2, Washington Capital’s Captain Alexander Ovechkin and the rest of the Capitals seemed very pleased with the Game 4 win of 3-2. The Rangers are becoming more and more frustrated with the way the series took a turn after Game 3 when the game went into triple overtime, Rangers winning with a goal from Marian Gaborik at 14:41 in the tiring overtime. He made a goal past Capital’s goalie Braden Holtby with a wrist shot of 13 feet. The goal was assisted by Brad Richards and Daniel Giardi.   In Game 4 the Capitals had goals from Captain Alexander Ovechkin; center Nicklas Backstrom, and defenseman Mike Green. Green had previously been out 50 games with a right ankle injury and then an abdominal injury that required surgery. The ...
