#23: Tanner Todd

Welcome back to one of the last Meet your Maulers! We only have 3 more after this interviews after this which would be for Craig Buford, Joey Sundgren, and captain Anders Nord. Let me introduce to you forward #14 Tanner Todd! Tanner is 5 ft 10 in, 150 lbs, is from Brookings, South Dakota, USA, and is a '94. In the 2012-2013 season he played for the Chicago Bulldogs but unfortunately I can not find any stats for last season. I am very happy that Tanner is on the team this year because he has brought so much life and power to the roster, it is very incredible! He drives the puck and keeps his team mates moving but at the same time he is very physically threatening and is always willing to go the extra mile for the team. I, personally, have been enthused with his performances so far just for the fact that he can keep plays going and always wants to finish out on top. Tanner has a very well rounded game and he matches it with the rest of the guys. Todd has very quick skates, great passes, high hockey IQ, and the drive to perform his best every game. I am excited to see how his skills will help the team out in the Las Vegas Shoot Out next week and how the rest of his season goes! I was able to talk with him a while back and here is what he had to say!

1.  Why did you decide to join the Maulers this year?

TT: I had heard many great things about the Maulers and I have family that lives here

2. What skills on and off the ice do you expect to bring to the team this year?

TT: I have a good attitude so I'll be really vocal and try to keep a positive attitude on the bench. I'm also a good defensive forward but hopefully I can pick my offensive game

3. Favorite pregame meal?

TT: Fettuccine Alfredo with a Caesar salad

4. Favorite NHL team and player?

TT: Minnesota Wild and Jonathan Toews

5. What do you enjoy to do when you are not playing?

TT: Hanging out with the boys

6. What do you enjoy most about Missoula?

TT: The atmosphere of the people and the outdoor activities

7. Greatest chirp you have ever said or been told?

TT: I usually don't say anything back I just smile and that always rattles them

8. Best hockey memory?

TT: Going to Quebec City for a huge PeeWee tournament they have every year

9. Worst travel experience?

TT: Getting my first flat tire by myself about 30 miles out of Gillette on my way to Missoula this year

10. Best dressed?

TT: Auzzie

11. Worst rink you have ever played in?

TT: Oceanside in Phoenix or Riverside's rink right outside LA because they were really cold and not very nice inside

12. Where do you see yourself in hockey in the next 5 years?

TT: I have no idea yet I'll just have to see what happens then

13. Best travel partner?

TT: Cody Janzen or Edward Pollon

14. Xavier LaFlamme, Hanson Brothers, or Jack O'Callahan?

TT: Jack O'Callahan

15. Which NHL player would you want to go 1 on 1 with?

TT: Probably Chara or Toews either one would be fun

16. What player best embodies the junior lifestyle?

TT: Corey Schafer

17. Is there anything you would like to tell the fans?

TT: It is easier to win if everybody is there so keep coming and cheering loud

18. Which NHL player would you compare yourself to?

TT: Ian Laperriere because he doesn't get the most points but he was always being a pest on the ice and worked hard all the time

19. If you had to be stranded on desert island with anyone in the world and anyone on the team who would it be?

TT: Cameron Diaz and Cody Janzen

It was great to talk with Tanner and hopefully we can see some of his skill pretty soon in Las Vegas! Hopefully we can continue seeing him grow as a player throughout the season and watch some pretty sick goals coming from his blade! Thanks for chatting with me Tanner and good luck with the Maulers!

Fight of the Year Biscuits and Breezers        Before I move on to anymore news, I wanted to feature a fight that I think should be up for a fight of the year in the WSHL. This scrap was between a beast from Missoula and a goon from Seattle. That's right Austin Azzinnaro and Piers LaFrance battled it out in Missoula's last home game and it was amazing. You should have seen these two go at it! It was a complete yard sale of mitts, twigs, and buckets, and by the time Auzzie was done with the Totem, LaFrance was thrown out of the rink looking like he had just met Ross "The Boss" Rhea from Goon. Azzinnaro was ejected in pure beauty style; waving to the roaring fans, excited as can be, and pumped for another round. It was an absolutely incredible fight and I have never seen a junior fight go down as sweet as that one did. Not to mention this was Austin's first tilly! He is a born fighter and obviously it comes by him naturally because the skills he ha
Jamie Zaleski Biscuits and Breezers    Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! Today you will be able to meet and get to know FHL Danville Dashers center Jamie Zaleski a little bit better. You don't come across a player very often that is so passionate about the sport that he takes immense pride in every game he plays or every time he represents his team, but today I believe I was able to talk to one of those chosen few. Jamie is an amazing player who beams passion and talent every time he walks onto the ice for a game and when you see him play, I guarantee that by the end of the game you will be as stunned as I was when I first watched a Dashers game. Zaleski is the perfect player seeing that he has the ideal combinations of aggressive and physical plays, speed, and can score whenever it needs be. I have seen some pretty aggressive players in my time but Jamie Zaleski is the definition of aggression out on the ice. His hits are almost always cle
