Biscuits and Breezers
Welcome to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! So with the 2011-2012 hockey season coming to a close, there will not be much to blog about but I will make sure there will be! I have also stopped the player reviews until next season, sorry but there is just not enough to write about and have them on here. August or September should be the first months that the player reviews come back. That is just an FYI for all my lovely viewers! Anyway, who saw the draft!?! I was very surprised when some of my favorite picks didn't go till the third, fourth, or even fifth rounds! As everyone expected Nail Yakupov went first to the Oilers, Ryan Murray went second to the Columbus Blue Jackets, and Alex Galchenyuk went third to the Montreal Canadiens. As you all now I am a gigantic Penguins fan and I would like to take a moment and welcome the new Ptitsburgh Penguins Derrick Pouliot drafted 8th, Olli Maatta drafted 22nd, Theodor Blueger drafted 52nd, Oskar Sundqvist drafted  81st, Matt Murray drafted 83rd, Matia Marcantuoni drafted 92nd, Sean Maguire drafted 113th, Clarke Seymour drafted 143rd, and to Anton Zlobin drafted 173rd. Welcome to Pittsburgh boys!!

The next thing we are going to talk about is the Jordan Staal trade. In the 2012-2013 season, the Carolina Hurricanes will have another familiar face on the ice. A Staal brother. Going into unrestricted free agency after the 2012-2013 season, the Penguins had a decision to make, whether to keep Staal, Crosby, and Malkin and who trade. Well that was decided on Day 1 of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft when the Peguins traded Staal to the Carolina Hurricanes for the 8th draft pick, Brandon Sutter, and young prospect Brian Dumoulin. Staal reportedly turned down a 10 year deal that was supposed to be $60 million. On the same day Jordan was getting married in Thunder Bay to long time girlfriend Heather. Congratulations by the way! Now the Penguins will have to sign star player Sidney Crosby by the summer of 2013 and league MVP Evgeni Malkin by the summer of 2014. Personally, I hope Sidney Crosby will agree to terms and stay with the Penguins. The Penguins wouldn't be the Penguins without Sid and Geno, in my opnion. The Staal brothers are playing on the same team since they were kids and now they will have the chance to see what it will be like in the NHL. Good luck to the both of you and to all the rest of the Staal brothers, Marc and Jared.

Before I go I just want to say Congratulations to Joe Sakic, Pavel Bure, Adam Oates, and Mats Sundin for being accepted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto! Class of 2012! Way to reach the stars and be with the greats. It proves the sky isn't the limit because you can reach your stars.

Spotlight Player Emil Travergard       Biscuits and Breezers         Welcome back to another blog for Biscuits and Breezers! This is another post for the Spotlight Player series, and the player featured today, is a prime example of the defensive qualities that are capable in blue liners. Trending on an upward slope, this particular player brings fire to the ice as well as quite the chill. He may be an independent skater, but he is almost always his team's biggest supporter in the long run. The next Spotlight Player is Haninge Anchors defenseman Emil Travergard!     Emil Travergard - Haninge Anchors (D)   Height: 6 ft 2 in  Weight:  215 lbs Hometown: Stockholm, Sweden 2013-2014 Stats: 1 goal in 23 games played, 3 assists, 4 TPs, and 14 PIMs with Hammarby J20         While watching Travergard on the ice during his stay in the WSHL, he certainly brought a spar...
Jamie Zaleski Biscuits and Breezers    Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! Today you will be able to meet and get to know FHL Danville Dashers center Jamie Zaleski a little bit better. You don't come across a player very often that is so passionate about the sport that he takes immense pride in every game he plays or every time he represents his team, but today I believe I was able to talk to one of those chosen few. Jamie is an amazing player who beams passion and talent every time he walks onto the ice for a game and when you see him play, I guarantee that by the end of the game you will be as stunned as I was when I first watched a Dashers game. Zaleski is the perfect player seeing that he has the ideal combinations of aggressive and physical plays, speed, and can score whenever it needs be. I have seen some pretty aggressive players in my time but Jamie Zaleski is the definition of aggression out on the ice. His hits are almost alway...
#3 Biscuits and Breezers Welcome back to Biscuits and Breezers! In this blog, we will be discussing the Washington vs. New York series and the St. Louis vs. Los Angeles series. Starting off with the Washington vs. New York series. With the series now tied at 2-2, Washington Capital’s Captain Alexander Ovechkin and the rest of the Capitals seemed very pleased with the Game 4 win of 3-2. The Rangers are becoming more and more frustrated with the way the series took a turn after Game 3 when the game went into triple overtime, Rangers winning with a goal from Marian Gaborik at 14:41 in the tiring overtime. He made a goal past Capital’s goalie Braden Holtby with a wrist shot of 13 feet. The goal was assisted by Brad Richards and Daniel Giardi.   In Game 4 the Capitals had goals from Captain Alexander Ovechkin; center Nicklas Backstrom, and defenseman Mike Green. Green had previously been out 50 games with a right ankle injury and then an abdominal injury that required surgery. The ...
