Spotlight Player:
Sandro Aeschlimann

Biscuits and Breezers

Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! As you can tell this is another Spotlight player review and the skater I am reviewing today is and absolutely monstrous goaltender. He goes into games seeking success and doesn't leave until he finds it. This goaltender takes complete control of everything going on within his zone and is goaltender you certainly don't want to mess with. This particular skater is one that exudes intimidation as well as confidence. Your next Spotlight Player is Dells Ducks goaltender Sandro Aeschlimann!

Sandro Aeschlimann - Dells Ducks (G)

Height: 6 ft 2 in Weight: 188 lbs Hometown: Zaziwil, Switzerland 2013-2014 Stats: 3.42 goals against average in 10 games played and a .889 save percentage with the Springfield Jr. Blues

The MnJHL is notorious for producing incredibly talented players and the Dells Ducks' netminder Sandro Aeschlimann is currently one of the skaters leading the pack. Currently, he is the 4th highest ranked goaltender for overall save percentage, 4th highest for goals against average, and he is the 5th ranked goalie for overall wins. Any time Sandro takes the ice, every single person in that rink knows that the fight to light the lamp is going to be taken to the next level. Aeschlimann brings a whole varied bag of skills to the cage and is always switching around his game play. He never lets any player know how he is going to proceed with a save or whether his plays are going to be sly and quick or sharp and unrelenting. Sandro is the MnJHL's consecutive shut out leader and that is no shock due to his upfront aggression in the cage. Aeschlimann is a very bold netminder and is very fierce between the pipes. He is out there for one purpose and one purpose only; to watch his team become number one night after night. When you watch Sandro in the net, you view a performance full of technical proficiency as well as targeting accuracy. He has fantastic glove movements, spot on pad positioning, and pin point in-cage vision. He trusts his pipes enough to handle some of the work, but on a usual basis, Aeschlimann can handle anything thrown at him. If a puck is being rushed towards his net, it is almost certain that he is facing it head on, already having sights set on the biscuit. He constantly keeps his moves sporadic as to not give any hints of a pattern in defense. One can tell that Sandro carefully tracks the opposing teams while they are on shifts and comprehends how each skater executes their games as well as their strengths and weaknesses. Showing a very advanced level of understanding the sport, Aeschlimann conforms to each skater in order to efficiently stop more goals. Taking in the entire ice sheet at all times, Sandro is completely on guard and ready to defend his team to the ends of the earth. He essentially takes on the persona of the warrior goaltender and pairs it very neatly with an offensive mind. Aeschlimann, in my opinion, would very comparable to either the Washington Capitals' netminder Braden Holtby or LA's Jonathan Quick. Sandro and Holtby hold a very similar aggression level whereas he and Quick share a very savvy offensive thought process. Best of luck Sandro with the Dells Ducks and your future hockey career!

Spotlight Player Emil Travergard       Biscuits and Breezers         Welcome back to another blog for Biscuits and Breezers! This is another post for the Spotlight Player series, and the player featured today, is a prime example of the defensive qualities that are capable in blue liners. Trending on an upward slope, this particular player brings fire to the ice as well as quite the chill. He may be an independent skater, but he is almost always his team's biggest supporter in the long run. The next Spotlight Player is Haninge Anchors defenseman Emil Travergard!     Emil Travergard - Haninge Anchors (D)   Height: 6 ft 2 in  Weight:  215 lbs Hometown: Stockholm, Sweden 2013-2014 Stats: 1 goal in 23 games played, 3 assists, 4 TPs, and 14 PIMs with Hammarby J20         While watching Travergard on the ice during his stay in the WSHL, he certainly brought a spar...
Jamie Zaleski Biscuits and Breezers    Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! Today you will be able to meet and get to know FHL Danville Dashers center Jamie Zaleski a little bit better. You don't come across a player very often that is so passionate about the sport that he takes immense pride in every game he plays or every time he represents his team, but today I believe I was able to talk to one of those chosen few. Jamie is an amazing player who beams passion and talent every time he walks onto the ice for a game and when you see him play, I guarantee that by the end of the game you will be as stunned as I was when I first watched a Dashers game. Zaleski is the perfect player seeing that he has the ideal combinations of aggressive and physical plays, speed, and can score whenever it needs be. I have seen some pretty aggressive players in my time but Jamie Zaleski is the definition of aggression out on the ice. His hits are almost alway...
#32   Biscuits and Breezers          Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! In this blog we will talk about the Oilers' team regrowth and Wild prospect Mario Lucia breaking his leg. Starting off with the Edmonton Oilers. I have recently talked about Taylor Hall's signing and now we have another. This time it's Jordan Eberle's turn. He was just inked to a 6 year $36 million contract extension on Tuesday. With one year left on his entry level contract, this extension will keep him as the new youthful generation of players until the 2018-2019 season. Hopefully with Nail Yakupov, Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, they can produce a team almost as good as in the Gretzky era. Just give them a few years and maybe they will rise up and become a main threat again. We will see! Good luck Jordan with the new contract! I am quite excited to see the upcoming team.     Next thing we will talk about is Ma...
