Spotlight Player:
Andreas Pettersson

Biscuits and Breezers

Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! I am bringing you an installment of Biscuits and Breezers' Spotlight player reviews, and this time, I will be reviewing a goaltender who plays a top notch game as well as one that is a great representation of the highlights of junior hockey goaltending. He is an incredibly bright player as well as one who has an innate sense to the game. He has already shown that he has the talent to play through any situation thrown at him and come out without a fracture. This particular player is a phenomenal player to have on roster because he takes on ten times the amount he is expected and always pulls through for his team mates. Biscuits and Breezers' next Spotlight Player is Ogden Mustangs goaltender Andreas Pettersson!

Andreas Pettersson - Ogden Mustangs (G)

Height: 6 ft 1 in Weight: 175 lbs Hometown: Trollhattan, Sweden 2013-2014 Stats: 2.06 GAA and .925 save percentage in 16 games played with BIK Karlskoga J20

When looking at the NHL, Finnish goaltenders are dominating the league, but in junior hockey, you are seeing more and more Swedish netminders in goal for teams all across the country. Pettersson had some big shoes to fill signing with the Mustangs following Ogden's previous goaltenders, but only half way into the season, he has gone above and beyond the expectations the Mustangs organization had for him. He has proven time and time again to be a crucial link for the team and has never let his team down. From the performances I've seen this season, Pettersson holds an incredible amount of ambition as well as a very strong mentality to carry on no matter what has been experienced previously in the game. Andreas is an incredibly powerful presence on the ice in more ways than one. First off, one can tell that he has a very forward thinking and advanced mind. In my opinion, Pettersson takes what he sees happening on the ice as well as the potential outcomes and puts it on the next level. He absorbs every ounce of the game that he can and uses that to his advantage. It appears very much so that he has a very innate sense in the cage. Andreas holds a very high IQ for the game and backs every decision he makes during games with an intelligent thought process. Secondly, Pettersson has made it a trend to never show weakness in the cage. Now, I am not saying weakness in the traditional sense, I am referring to the portrayal of exhaustion. He never lets his opponents know that he is running on low or that he is not at full strength. Every time he is having the puck rushed towards him or someone is trying for a wrap around, top shelf, or back handed goal,  he puts on his game face, stands up to his challenge, and is ready to take on any momentous feat his teams needs him to tackle. Lastly, he is very strong technically speaking. He has enormous and quick moves within in the net, he dashes to respond to any threats presented outside of the crease, and has a very in depth understanding of it takes to be a top goaltender. Currently, Andreas is ranked 18th overall for the WSHL's goaltenders. Perhaps one of the best qualities about  his style of play would be that he never has restrictions about carrying a heavy load for his team. He will always go the extra mile for the logo on the front of his jersey, and if need be, he will go 5 extra one step at at time. Best of luck Andreas with the Mustangs as well as your future hockey career!

Spotlight Player Emil Travergard       Biscuits and Breezers         Welcome back to another blog for Biscuits and Breezers! This is another post for the Spotlight Player series, and the player featured today, is a prime example of the defensive qualities that are capable in blue liners. Trending on an upward slope, this particular player brings fire to the ice as well as quite the chill. He may be an independent skater, but he is almost always his team's biggest supporter in the long run. The next Spotlight Player is Haninge Anchors defenseman Emil Travergard!     Emil Travergard - Haninge Anchors (D)   Height: 6 ft 2 in  Weight:  215 lbs Hometown: Stockholm, Sweden 2013-2014 Stats: 1 goal in 23 games played, 3 assists, 4 TPs, and 14 PIMs with Hammarby J20         While watching Travergard on the ice during his stay in the WSHL, he certainly brought a spar...
Jamie Zaleski Biscuits and Breezers    Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! Today you will be able to meet and get to know FHL Danville Dashers center Jamie Zaleski a little bit better. You don't come across a player very often that is so passionate about the sport that he takes immense pride in every game he plays or every time he represents his team, but today I believe I was able to talk to one of those chosen few. Jamie is an amazing player who beams passion and talent every time he walks onto the ice for a game and when you see him play, I guarantee that by the end of the game you will be as stunned as I was when I first watched a Dashers game. Zaleski is the perfect player seeing that he has the ideal combinations of aggressive and physical plays, speed, and can score whenever it needs be. I have seen some pretty aggressive players in my time but Jamie Zaleski is the definition of aggression out on the ice. His hits are almost alway...
#32   Biscuits and Breezers          Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! In this blog we will talk about the Oilers' team regrowth and Wild prospect Mario Lucia breaking his leg. Starting off with the Edmonton Oilers. I have recently talked about Taylor Hall's signing and now we have another. This time it's Jordan Eberle's turn. He was just inked to a 6 year $36 million contract extension on Tuesday. With one year left on his entry level contract, this extension will keep him as the new youthful generation of players until the 2018-2019 season. Hopefully with Nail Yakupov, Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, they can produce a team almost as good as in the Gretzky era. Just give them a few years and maybe they will rise up and become a main threat again. We will see! Good luck Jordan with the new contract! I am quite excited to see the upcoming team.     Next thing we will talk about is Ma...
