Biscuits and Breezers

Welcome to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! Since the 2011-2012 NHL season is officially closed and done we will be talking about a few different things like the draft, Awards Night, and just buzz around the NHL community! In this blog we will be talking about Anaheim's contract deal, Dallas' contract deal, and Scandinavian Hockey Consulting's player move to California. Starting off with Anaheim. The Anaheim Ducks have just signed a three year entry-level contract with Swedish left wing Max Friberg. Max was selected 5th round 143 overall in the 2011 NHL Draft and represented Team Sweden in the 2011 and 2012 World Junior Championships. He is a native of Skovde, Sweden and is 5ft. 10in and is 194lbs. In the 2011-2012 season Max played with the Timrå Elitserien team and had 5 goals in 48 games played, 5 assists, 10 TPs, 8 PIMs, and a +/- of -3. He is definitely a player who will play both ways and work the boards as well as move the puck down the ice. Max has speedy skates and great vision on the ice. I would hope that all my wonderful fans and viewers who happen to like the Ducks will make a warm welcome to Max and continue to follow him in the future!

Now we move onto Dallas' recent signing. The Dallas Stars have also signed a scandinavian player by the name of Jyrki Jokipakka. Jyrki is a Finnish defenseman that was drafted in the 7th round 195th overall. The Stars have signed a three year entry-level with Jyrki through the 2014-2015 season. Jyrki is a native of Tampere, Finland and is 6 ft. 3in and is 198lbs. In the 2011-2012 season, he played on the Ilves SM-liiga team and had 9 goals in 52 games played, 8 assists, 17 TPS, 18 PIMs, and +/- of -4. Jyrki is a strong defenseman with great vision on the ice and will make sure that if the puck is coming his way it will not pass the blue line. He also played on the Finland U20 International Jr. and WJC-20 teams on the 2010-2011 season. Like I said before with Max, I hope all of my fans and viewers that like the Stars will give a warm welcome to Jyrki and follow him in the future!

Continuing on with the contract deals, the Scandinavian Hockey Consulting group is sending a Swede over to California. Dennis Andersson is a former Rogle J20 defenseman who is going to spend the 2012-2013 season with the San Diego Seagulls of the WSHL. He moves the puck well and is a very big physical player who is very solid at both ends of the rink. We all wish you luck and hope you the best with your future hockey career!

Now, we move onto the "Players of Today". For the European pick we have French professional player Luc Tardif Jr. For the NHL player we have Phoenix Coyotes' left wing Taylor Pyatt. For the goalie pick we have Wenatchee Wild goaltender Robert Nichols.

Let's start off with the European player, shall we? Luc Tardif Jr. is from Rouen, France and is currently playing with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL. Luc is 6ft. 4 in, 223lbs, and is a left/right winger. In the 2011-2012 season, he had 5 goals in 22 games played, 3 assists, 8 TPs, 20 PIMs, and a +/- of -1. Luc is signed with the French team Grenoble for the 2012-2013 season. Luc is a very good player who moves the puck well and can make amazing plays. Good luck Luc with Grenoble and in your future hockey career!

We have come to the NHL player. Taylor Pyatt is 6ft. 4 in, 228lbs, and is from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. He was drafted in the 1st round 8th overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders. In the 2011-2012 season, Taylor had 9 goals in 73 games played, 10 assists, 19 TPs, a +/- of -4, 23 PIMs, 0 power play goals, 0 shot handed goals, 1 game winning goals, 111 shots on goal, and an 8.1 S%. Taylor played for the Islanders for 1 season, 4 seasons with the Sabres, 3 seasons with the Canucks, and currently 3 seasons with the Coyotes.  He played 3 seasons with the Sudbury Wolves in the OHL, 1 season with the Thunder Bay Kings of the TBAHA, 1 season with the Rochester Americans in the AHL, and 1 season with the Hammarby IF Stockholm-Sweden-2 team. He is very good forward who makes very good plays and can carry the puck well. Good luck Taylor in your career and season in the NHL and in your future hockey career!

Lastly, we have the goalie pick. Robert Nichols is from Dallas, Texas,USA, is 5ft. 11in, and is 180 lbs. Playing goalie for the Wenatchee Wild, Robert had 34 games played, 2059:33 minutes played, 24 wins, 6 loses, 4 overtime loses, 10 shutouts, 51 goals against, 1.49 goals against average, 772 saves, and a save percentage of .938. Fight of the Year Biscuits and Breezers        Before I move on to anymore news, I wanted to feature a fight that I think should be up for a fight of the year in the WSHL. This scrap was between a beast from Missoula and a goon from Seattle. That's right Austin Azzinnaro and Piers LaFrance battled it out in Missoula's last home game and it was amazing. You should have seen these two go at it! It was a complete yard sale of mitts, twigs, and buckets, and by the time Auzzie was done with the Totem, LaFrance was thrown out of the rink looking like he had just met Ross "The Boss" Rhea from Goon. Azzinnaro was ejected in pure beauty style; waving to the roaring fans, excited as can be, and pumped for another round. It was an absolutely incredible fight and I have never seen a junior fight go down as sweet as that one did. Not to mention this was Austin's first tilly! He is a born fighter and obviously it comes by him naturally because the skills he ha
Jamie Zaleski Biscuits and Breezers    Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! Today you will be able to meet and get to know FHL Danville Dashers center Jamie Zaleski a little bit better. You don't come across a player very often that is so passionate about the sport that he takes immense pride in every game he plays or every time he represents his team, but today I believe I was able to talk to one of those chosen few. Jamie is an amazing player who beams passion and talent every time he walks onto the ice for a game and when you see him play, I guarantee that by the end of the game you will be as stunned as I was when I first watched a Dashers game. Zaleski is the perfect player seeing that he has the ideal combinations of aggressive and physical plays, speed, and can score whenever it needs be. I have seen some pretty aggressive players in my time but Jamie Zaleski is the definition of aggression out on the ice. His hits are almost always cle
