Player #22: Mason Jones

Welcome back to another Meet your Maulers! In this blog you will get to know forward #19 Mason Jones. Mason is 5 ft 9 in, 150 lbs, is from Colbert, Washington, USA, and is a '96. I am not sure where he played for the 2012-2013 season, but in his current season with the Maulers he has 2 goals in 11 games played, 3 assists, 5 TPs, 2 PIMs, and 1 power play assist. Jones is a very offensive and aggressive forward that likes to get the puck going and constantly moving. He has quick skates and pairs well with most, if not all, of his team mates which makes for any easy line up. Mason is one of those players that takes his skills, which would be his wicked shooting accuracy and quick reflexes, and applies them to the team as well as the game as much as possible. I think that he would be a great addition to any team he joins because he plays with a full heart and would do anything to support his team. It will be exciting to see how he does in the series against the Mustangs this weekend because the team needs a great offensive as well as defensive force to bring in a big win against a highly aggressive and powerful team. But I think the Maulers will be able to hold their own because they have gained a lot of skill during the break between games! I talked with Mason over Facebook and here is what he had to say!

1. Why did you decide to join the Maulers this year?

MJ: I decided to join the Maulers this year because I thought it would be a great place to start off my junior career

2. What skills on and off the ice do you expect to bring to the team this year?

MJ: On the ice I expect to bring a lot of speed and great vision. Off the ice I just want to bring a lot of energy and be a fun guy to hangout with

3. Favorite pregame meal?

MJ: Favorite pregame meal if I have to say is any sort of pasta really

4. What is your favorite NHL team and player?

MJ: My favorite team would have to be the Chicago Blackhawks and my favorite player would be Patrick Kane

5. What do you enjoy to do when you are not playing?

MJ:  I like to hangout with the boys, play lacrosse, and golf

6. What do you enjoy most about Missoula?

MJ: I like that it's a really nice small town

7. Greatest chirp you have ever said or been told?

MJ: Haha one time I told some kid "I hope you like hospital food guy."

8. What is your best hockey memory?

MJ: Probably a couple of years ago after we won our game we went to the Detroit vs. Minnesota game and met the whole Red Wings team

9.  Worst travel experience?

MJ: Not really sure I have one of those

10. Best dressed?

MJ: Probably myself or the boys from over seas

11. Worst rink you have ever played in?

MJ: The old Nelson rink. It's just so small and gross. There is really no place to stand when you're watching the game

12. Where do you see yourself in hockey in the next 5 years?

MJ: Hopefully playing college somewhere. Wherever that may be

13. Best travel partner?

MJ: I'd have to give that one to Mr. Josh Chamberlain

14. Xavier LaFlamme, Hanson Brothers, or Jack O'Callahan?

MJ: Jack O'Callahan that guy's a real class act

15. Which NHL player would you want to go 1 on 1 with?

MJ: Patrick Kane. Hopefully he could teach me to stick handle

16. What player on the team best embodies the junior lifestyle?

MJ: Corey Schafer

17. Is there anything you would like to tell the fans?

MJ: Come out and support us!

18. Which NHL player would you compare yourself to?

MJ: Probably the new guy Nathan Mackinnon. I like to bring a lot of speed just like him

19. If you had to be stranded on a desert island with anyone in the world and anyone on the team who would it be?

MJ: Probably Kate Upton and Anders Nord

It was great to finally get to talk with Mason and hopefully he can produce some strong plays for his team while they are staying in Utah! I hope that we will see him grow as a player and mature into a very talented and seasoned junior player. Thanks for talking with me Mason and good luck with the Maulers!

Jamie Zaleski Biscuits and Breezers    Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! Today you will be able to meet and get to know FHL Danville Dashers center Jamie Zaleski a little bit better. You don't come across a player very often that is so passionate about the sport that he takes immense pride in every game he plays or every time he represents his team, but today I believe I was able to talk to one of those chosen few. Jamie is an amazing player who beams passion and talent every time he walks onto the ice for a game and when you see him play, I guarantee that by the end of the game you will be as stunned as I was when I first watched a Dashers game. Zaleski is the perfect player seeing that he has the ideal combinations of aggressive and physical plays, speed, and can score whenever it needs be. I have seen some pretty aggressive players in my time but Jamie Zaleski is the definition of aggression out on the ice. His hits are almost alway...
Spotlight Player Emil Travergard       Biscuits and Breezers         Welcome back to another blog for Biscuits and Breezers! This is another post for the Spotlight Player series, and the player featured today, is a prime example of the defensive qualities that are capable in blue liners. Trending on an upward slope, this particular player brings fire to the ice as well as quite the chill. He may be an independent skater, but he is almost always his team's biggest supporter in the long run. The next Spotlight Player is Haninge Anchors defenseman Emil Travergard!     Emil Travergard - Haninge Anchors (D)   Height: 6 ft 2 in  Weight:  215 lbs Hometown: Stockholm, Sweden 2013-2014 Stats: 1 goal in 23 games played, 3 assists, 4 TPs, and 14 PIMs with Hammarby J20         While watching Travergard on the ice during his stay in the WSHL, he certainly brought a spar...
#32   Biscuits and Breezers          Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! In this blog we will talk about the Oilers' team regrowth and Wild prospect Mario Lucia breaking his leg. Starting off with the Edmonton Oilers. I have recently talked about Taylor Hall's signing and now we have another. This time it's Jordan Eberle's turn. He was just inked to a 6 year $36 million contract extension on Tuesday. With one year left on his entry level contract, this extension will keep him as the new youthful generation of players until the 2018-2019 season. Hopefully with Nail Yakupov, Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, they can produce a team almost as good as in the Gretzky era. Just give them a few years and maybe they will rise up and become a main threat again. We will see! Good luck Jordan with the new contract! I am quite excited to see the upcoming team.     Next thing we will talk about is Ma...
