Getting to know your Maulers Player #19 Nikita Sheptytskyy Get to know your Maulers Player #19: Nikita Sheptytskyy (Credit to Missoula Maulers) Welcome back to another Meet your Maulers! In this blog you will be getting to know Ukrainian rookie and forward #13 Nikita Sheptytskyy! Nikita is 6 ft 3 in, 190 lbs, is from Kiev, Ukraine, and is a '95. It appears that he played for the Kryzhynka Kviv in the Ukraine U18 League in the 2012-2013 season but I can not find any stats for this year. I was able to find his Ukrainian national team WJC18 d1B stats for the 2012-2013 "tournament." He has 3 goals in 5 games played, 2 assists, 5 TPs, 2 PIMs, and a +/- of -3. Watching him so far throughout his season in the WSHL, all I can say is wow. Nikita is amazing out on the ice. He isn't a physical player but his skills with the biscuit are incredible. In this blog we will be talking about Steven Stamkos' season ending injury, Kadri's three game suspension after his hit on Minnesota goaltender Niklas Backstrom, Canuck's sign tendy Eddie Lack to a two year extension, and Jonathan Quick out with a groin injury. The Vancouver Cancucks have decided to resign Swedish goaltender and back up to Roberto Luongo Eddie Lack to a two year extension on his original contract reportedly worth $2.3 million. After being in the AHL for 3 seasons and being signed onto the team on April 6th, 2010, "The Stork" finally made his NHL debut on October 6th this year against fellow Canadian team, the Calgary Flames. Getting to know your Maulers Player #18 Niko Pukkila Get to know your Maulers Player #18: Niko Pukkila (Credit to Missoula Maulers) Welcome back to another Meet your Maulers! In this blog you will get to meet veteran defenseman #2 Niko Pukkila! Niko is 6 ft 0 in, 205 lbs, is from Post Falls, Idaho, USA, and is a '94. He played for the Maulers in the 2012-2013 season while Missoula was still in the AWHL. During that season, Niko had 0 goals in 32 games played, 5 assists, 5 TPs, a +/- of 11, and 41 PIMs. I am very enthused that Niko is back on the roster this year because, in my opinion, he one of the best kinds of defenseman. He is tough, physical, and isn't afraid to get aggressive out on the ice. I think that he should be a great asset for the Maulers because he can stand up and protect the other players, stand his ground during plays, and will bring a bigger more physical game to a league that is generally very aggressive. Marquette Royales Team Request Marquette Royales Team Request      Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! Recently, I was approached by Head Coach Mike Stanaway of the Marquette Royales wondering if I could do a write up about the team and I quickly responded with a yes! I love this team and how they have been doing this year. They are one of the teams placed in the Great Lakes Division of the MnJHL. They are on a hot 17 game win streak and are going for #18 hopefully on the 8th against the Central Wisconsin Saints. This is team built on trust, team chemistry, passion, and great hockey players. Instead of playing for themselves, they all play for each other and that is really what has brought them out on top. To go along with the win streak, they have a multitude of NCAA offers to many of the members of the team. As a team they are all living the dream and I have great respect towards that. In this blog you will be briefly introduced to defenseman #4 Tyler Zandhuisen! Tyler is 6 ft 0 in, 185 lbs, is from Spokane, Washington, USA, and is a "95. He played for the Maulers last season and he had 5 goals in 43 games played, 20 assists, 25 TPs, 47 PIMs, and a +/- of 14. I am very thrilled that he is on the team this year because he is a great blue liner who definitely knows exactly what he is doing out on the ice and is very good at making plays. He was named assistant captain this year and it is well deserved. Even though he is young, he is a strong leader to the rookies as well as all the defenseman. Let me introduce you to forward #8 Max Rebholz! Max is 5 ft 11 in, 185 lbs, is from Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA, and is a '94. I am not sure where he played for the 2012-2013 season but for the 2011-2012 season, it appears he played for the Milwaukee Jr Admirals. In the 2011-2012 season he had 7 goals in 37 games played, 4 assists, 11 TPs, 1 power play goal, 0 short handed goals, and 6 PIMs. I am very excited that Max is on the team this year because he is a quick skater and a sharp and accurate shooter. He isn't afraid to stand up for his team or his team mates. He is a tough player to be up against and stands his ground every time he goes out on the ice. In this blog we will be discussing the many injuries in the NHL lately,  Marty Biron's retirement, Semyon Varlamov's arrest, and a Glacier Nationals player in critical condition. First off we will be talking about Semyon Varlamov. On Thursday, Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov briefly appeared in court after turning himself in on Wednesday night to the Denver police for assault charges declared by his girlfriend Evgeniya Vavrinyuk. He spent the night in jail Wednesday night then the next day he was told by Denver County Judge Claudia Jordan that he could be released if he posted a $5,000 bond, signed a waiver saying that he couldn't drink, possess firearms, and if he decided to flee when he traveled with the team he would would be sent back to Colorado. Semyon was arrested for suspicion of second-degree kidnapping and third-degree assault. Vavrinyuk had been...
