Player Death

Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers. I would like to address something that has affected me and the junior hockey world alike. A player was recently killed in an automobile accident on Friday and I thought I should recognize him. His name was Wyatt Winfield and he played on the junior A hockey team the Helena Bighorns. Wyatt was killed heading east near the city of Helena, Montana in his pickup near midnight. A nut on the left front tire fell off causing the tire to fall off and the pickup veered off the road.Wyatt was ejected from the vehicle. He wasn't wearing his seat belt. Wyatt was taken to a near by hospital and eventually died from his injuries. It was very unfortunate that he had to pass like this because I know for a fact that today, the hockey world became smaller and closer. I would like if your thoughts and prayers would go out to his family because it is every parents' worst nightmare to have to bury their own child. Wyatt was a good friend of mine and will be dearly missed. The players and the Bighorn organization had a meeting earlier today to discuss this event. They have decided to play the 3rd and possible final out of five playoff games tonight against the Missoula Maulers. Captain of the Bighorns, Ben Henne, has addressed the family of Wyatt with sincere feelings and compassion from the whole entire team and organization. They will play in honor of Wyatt and for #15. The team is in a shaken state but I  think that this will be one of their best games and that has been played entirely whole hearted. This will be quite the game tonight and I wish I could be their to honor his memory instead I will have to be at home watching it on my laptop unfortunately. This would have been Wyatt's 4th consecutive season in Helena and he has played all of his junior years there. Watching his growth and improvement as not only a player but also as a person was absolutely amazing. If you can I would love if I could get as many people as possible to watch this game tonight at http://www.pointstreak.com/prostats/scoreboard.html?leagueid=1223. Thanks everyone and I hope that you are able to. No matter what team or league you like, we are all part of a hockey family and when something happens inside that family, we are all effected. We will all miss you Wyatt and I hope you will be watching down on your boys, your town, and your team tonight. Rest in peace buddy and it won't be the same without you.

Spotlight Player Emil Travergard       Biscuits and Breezers         Welcome back to another blog for Biscuits and Breezers! This is another post for the Spotlight Player series, and the player featured today, is a prime example of the defensive qualities that are capable in blue liners. Trending on an upward slope, this particular player brings fire to the ice as well as quite the chill. He may be an independent skater, but he is almost always his team's biggest supporter in the long run. The next Spotlight Player is Haninge Anchors defenseman Emil Travergard!     Emil Travergard - Haninge Anchors (D)   Height: 6 ft 2 in  Weight:  215 lbs Hometown: Stockholm, Sweden 2013-2014 Stats: 1 goal in 23 games played, 3 assists, 4 TPs, and 14 PIMs with Hammarby J20         While watching Travergard on the ice during his stay in the WSHL, he certainly brought a spar...
Jamie Zaleski Biscuits and Breezers    Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! Today you will be able to meet and get to know FHL Danville Dashers center Jamie Zaleski a little bit better. You don't come across a player very often that is so passionate about the sport that he takes immense pride in every game he plays or every time he represents his team, but today I believe I was able to talk to one of those chosen few. Jamie is an amazing player who beams passion and talent every time he walks onto the ice for a game and when you see him play, I guarantee that by the end of the game you will be as stunned as I was when I first watched a Dashers game. Zaleski is the perfect player seeing that he has the ideal combinations of aggressive and physical plays, speed, and can score whenever it needs be. I have seen some pretty aggressive players in my time but Jamie Zaleski is the definition of aggression out on the ice. His hits are almost alway...
#3 Biscuits and Breezers Welcome back to Biscuits and Breezers! In this blog, we will be discussing the Washington vs. New York series and the St. Louis vs. Los Angeles series. Starting off with the Washington vs. New York series. With the series now tied at 2-2, Washington Capital’s Captain Alexander Ovechkin and the rest of the Capitals seemed very pleased with the Game 4 win of 3-2. The Rangers are becoming more and more frustrated with the way the series took a turn after Game 3 when the game went into triple overtime, Rangers winning with a goal from Marian Gaborik at 14:41 in the tiring overtime. He made a goal past Capital’s goalie Braden Holtby with a wrist shot of 13 feet. The goal was assisted by Brad Richards and Daniel Giardi.   In Game 4 the Capitals had goals from Captain Alexander Ovechkin; center Nicklas Backstrom, and defenseman Mike Green. Green had previously been out 50 games with a right ankle injury and then an abdominal injury that required surgery. The ...
