Biscuits and Breezers

Welcome to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! How is your summer going beauts? As you all know, or are about to know, that the free agency starts today. Now, that leaves a gamble of who is going to snatch up who and what team will rise above the rest and grab some of the best players on the market right now. Zach Parise is one of the biggest players up for grabs. Then it came out that Martin Brodeur is going to test out the waters of free agency. He has hired agent Pat Brisson and could possibly go to another NHL team. Could you believe Marty going to another team? He has been with the Devils since the '90s. He has played 1191 games and 70,028 minutes in the NHL all with the Devils! I don't know about you but I think that the Devils will do anything to get Brodeur to agree to stay with them. So more tidbits of news are that the Oilers have agreed on a two entry-level contract with University of Wisconsin defenseman Justin Schultz, the Predators have signed a four year $13 million deal with center Paul Gaustad, the Penguins have signed a two year contract with Matt Niskanen worth $4.6 million where he will earn $2.1 million next season and $2.5 million in the 2013-2014 season, the Wild have signed two, two year deals with defenseman Matt Kassian and Chay Genoway and are expected to eagerly pursue Zach Parise, the Rangers sign Martin Biron two years worth $2.6 million, and Jordan Staal got a 10 year deal worth $60 million from the Hurricanes, and so on.

Who was your favorite free agent signed today? What GM do you think made the best deal? Let me know in the comments below! Personally, besides Pittsburgh, I think that the Edmonton Oilers made one of the best deals signing Justin Schultz. In his 2011-2012 season with the University of Wisconsin Badgers Justin had 16 goals in 37 games played, 28 assits, 44 TPs, 110 shots on goal, 7 powerplay goals, 0 shorthanded goals, and 2 game winning goals. That is quite good for a college level defenseman. He was drafted in 2008 43rd overall by the Anaheim Ducks and is from West Kelowna, B.C . Even though the Edmonton Oilers haven't had the best luck in recruiting free agents in the past years, Justin went to the Oilers for the fact that they can produce some of the greatest players in the NHL's history. Wayne Gretzky and Paul Coffey, just to name a few. Young new faces are always good to see and they are even better if they make history. Good luck with the Oilers Justin and good luck in your future hockey career!

Jamie Zaleski Biscuits and Breezers    Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! Today you will be able to meet and get to know FHL Danville Dashers center Jamie Zaleski a little bit better. You don't come across a player very often that is so passionate about the sport that he takes immense pride in every game he plays or every time he represents his team, but today I believe I was able to talk to one of those chosen few. Jamie is an amazing player who beams passion and talent every time he walks onto the ice for a game and when you see him play, I guarantee that by the end of the game you will be as stunned as I was when I first watched a Dashers game. Zaleski is the perfect player seeing that he has the ideal combinations of aggressive and physical plays, speed, and can score whenever it needs be. I have seen some pretty aggressive players in my time but Jamie Zaleski is the definition of aggression out on the ice. His hits are almost alway...
#3 Biscuits and Breezers Welcome back to Biscuits and Breezers! In this blog, we will be discussing the Washington vs. New York series and the St. Louis vs. Los Angeles series. Starting off with the Washington vs. New York series. With the series now tied at 2-2, Washington Capital’s Captain Alexander Ovechkin and the rest of the Capitals seemed very pleased with the Game 4 win of 3-2. The Rangers are becoming more and more frustrated with the way the series took a turn after Game 3 when the game went into triple overtime, Rangers winning with a goal from Marian Gaborik at 14:41 in the tiring overtime. He made a goal past Capital’s goalie Braden Holtby with a wrist shot of 13 feet. The goal was assisted by Brad Richards and Daniel Giardi.   In Game 4 the Capitals had goals from Captain Alexander Ovechkin; center Nicklas Backstrom, and defenseman Mike Green. Green had previously been out 50 games with a right ankle injury and then an abdominal injury that required surgery. The ...
