Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! This is another post for the Spotlight Players series, and this time, the player represents the logo on his chest perfectly. This skater is a tough and gritty player who never steps away from a challenge and is never thrown off course. He knows what he wants and will go through anything to achieve it. This skater is an absolute bulldog of a player and always finds a way to get the biscuit in the basket. Your next Spotlight Player is Southern Oregon Spartans forward Jonathan Lovelace!

When you watch Lovelace out on the ice with his fellow Spartans, it becomes very apparent how much of an intense player he truly is. Jonathan is truly a power forward who brings fire to every one of his games. He has incredibly silky mitts with the biscuit and never fails to represent the long lived Spartan motto. Once he digs down deep and is in full swing with the season, there is absolutely no stopping him whatsoever. It is lit lamp after lit lamp after lit lamp until the season's closing, and when playoffs roll around, you know he is putting in as much effort as he can to claim the title of champion. Lovelace is an incredibly gritty player who will go through almost anything if that means he can continue to play the game he loves. He is the type of player that is as tough as nails and will get involved in a tilt or major corner battle just to skate off and tackle the next obstacle in his path. One of the most admirable qualities of Jonathan's game would be his ability take on any challenge given to him and to always find a way through it. Need a player to go out there and give the match a reviving spark or need a few more points on the scoreboard? Lovelace is your skater. He is a wickedly tough skater who certainly brings the junior hockey mentality to light: Play your heart out, fear none, and always play the ice knowing you will go home with the win. Send him out there stitched up, bloodied, or with a gnarly injury and you know Jonathan will still go down fighting. From what I've witnessed this season, Lovelace never performs any shift with half effort. He is almost always out there giving his absolute best to his team and is certainly not the player who leaves the ice knowing he hadn't played to his full potential. He is the skater that knows exactly what he wants, how he can achieve what he wants, and then proceeds to work extremely hard until his goals are met. Not only does Jonathan have the fight mentality, he is incredibly good at picking up the game very quickly. He can pinpoint his opponent's weaknesses, he can determine which skaters are the easiest to play the puck around with the least amount of threat, and by the end of any game he can pretty much play the goaltender only using tells he has noted throughout the frames. Lovelace is quite the bulldog of a player not only due to his abrasive playing tendencies but also due to his temperament on the ice. He can fly under the radar one second and then the next second he will playing with quite the amount of abrasive skills. Jonathan is certainly a phenomenal player for any team to have on roster due to his capability to absorb the game like a sponge as well as being able to carry on no matter what the sport puts in his path. Best of luck Jonathan with the Spartans and your future hockey career!

Fight of the Year Biscuits and Breezers        Before I move on to anymore news, I wanted to feature a fight that I think should be up for a fight of the year in the WSHL. This scrap was between a beast from Missoula and a goon from Seattle. That's right Austin Azzinnaro and Piers LaFrance battled it out in Missoula's last home game and it was amazing. You should have seen these two go at it! It was a complete yard sale of mitts, twigs, and buckets, and by the time Auzzie was done with the Totem, LaFrance was thrown out of the rink looking like he had just met Ross "The Boss" Rhea from Goon. Azzinnaro was ejected in pure beauty style; waving to the roaring fans, excited as can be, and pumped for another round. It was an absolutely incredible fight and I have never seen a junior fight go down as sweet as that one did. Not to mention this was Austin's first tilly! He is a born fighter and obviously it comes by him naturally because the skills he ha
Jamie Zaleski Biscuits and Breezers    Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! Today you will be able to meet and get to know FHL Danville Dashers center Jamie Zaleski a little bit better. You don't come across a player very often that is so passionate about the sport that he takes immense pride in every game he plays or every time he represents his team, but today I believe I was able to talk to one of those chosen few. Jamie is an amazing player who beams passion and talent every time he walks onto the ice for a game and when you see him play, I guarantee that by the end of the game you will be as stunned as I was when I first watched a Dashers game. Zaleski is the perfect player seeing that he has the ideal combinations of aggressive and physical plays, speed, and can score whenever it needs be. I have seen some pretty aggressive players in my time but Jamie Zaleski is the definition of aggression out on the ice. His hits are almost always cle
