Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! In this blog we will be talking about Shawn Thornton's fine, Martin St. Louis' loss, and Connor McDavid. First off, Connor McDavid. Often called the Next Crosby, Connor McDavid has been drafted 77th overall to the Medvescak Zagreb in the KHL. McDavid doesn't become draft eligible until the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, taking place in Florida, but his KHL draft position shouldn't be a worry to other NHL organizations since he is expected to be in a National Hockey League uniform straight out of the pre-season camps. In my opinion, I am very interested to see how McDavid matches up to the high standard allegations associated with his name. Could he be the Next Crosby? Who knows, only time will tell. In my honest opinion, he will completely topple Nathan MacKinnon's skill level. I can't wait to find out! Best of luck Connor!

Martin St. Louis has been involved in a tough playoff series against the Pittsburgh Penguins but the emotional toll has recently become quite more extreme. St. Louis' mother, France, died unexpectedly in the Canadian city of Montreal. She was 63 years old . After receiving the news, Martin rushed quickly up to Montreal after landing in Pittsburgh for Game 5. To add to the memory of his mother, Martin scored the opening goal in Game 6, which just happened to be played on Mother's Day. The end of the round 2 series is being played with a heavy heart and I wish all the best for Martin St. Louis and his family. Thoughts and prayers out to them as well.

Quote from St. Louis: "She was a great lady. Best human being I've ever known in my life. I owed it to her to do it. I know she would want me to."

Classy move by Penguins star Sidney Crosby consoling fellow Canadian Martin St Louis before Game 5, much respect to both players

Last but not least we have Bruins' Shawn Thornton. Thornton was fined $2820.52 by the NHL for unsportsmanlike conduct after spraying Canadiens' defenseman P.K. Subban in the face twice with a water bottle. This happened when Subban skated by the Bruins bench to go to the Canadiens' side of the ice. The Round 2 series of these playoffs has been a tough one for Subban after already being harassed with racial slurs by Bruins fans. If you have been with me for at any length of time, you would know that I try to write as unbiased as  possible. But since this is the second incident, I feel I shouldn't have to hold back my opinion. First of all, this harassment of any and all players needs to stop. Almost every player in the league is harassed at some point during their career and it is completely unnecessary. Yes rivalries form throughout teams but sometimes people take it way too far. NHL and the entire sport of hockey is by far the classiest sport out there, in my opinion, but when we have people tweeting racist slurs, or even harsh nicknames for players, it casts a bad shadow. I would love to see if some people could try and love the game for the amazing sport that it is instead of trying to pick a fight or diminish a player. Love a player or a team all you want but if you don't care for one, you don't have to say anything, simple as that. Of course, all of this is in my own personal opinion. Best of luck Montreal in the Eastern Conference Finals!

One last bit of news before we head into the reviews, earlier this week Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist was fined $5,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct after spraying Penguins captain Sidney Crosby in the face with his water bottle during game 6 of the 2nd Round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Now for the "Players of Today!" segment of the blog! For the Prospect pick we have Barrie Colts defenseman and captain Aaron Ekblad. For the professional pick we have Toronto Blue Ice Jets forward/defenseman Ryan Devine. For the European pick we have HV71 (J20) defenseman Axel Eidstedt.

Aaron is 6 ft 4 in, 217 lbs, and is from Belle River, Ontario, Canada. In the 2013-2014 season, he had 23 goals in 58 games played, 30 assists, 53 TPs, a +/- of 7, and 91 PIMs. He is the #2 top rated NHL prospect for the 2014 NHL Entry Draft and is expected to go to the Florida Panthers as the #1 pick. I am honestly very impressed with Aaron's style of play because it is absolutely incredible. He is a defenseman, but without knowing it, you could never tell. His style of play is out of this world and he plays such a huge game. Aaron works extremely hard every shifts and gives each game 100%. Ekblad is a wickedly phenomenal defenseman because he will be a huge, strong, and confident blue liner that will work the boards and play with an enormous and aggressive style. But then at the same time, he will take on the role of a forward and absolutely tear apart the opposing netminder. With his large frame, he whips around the ice very quickly and is a very intimidating skater. Every every minute and second that passes that Ekblad is on the ice, he is cool headed, using as much thought as he can, supporting his team mates, and is one step ahead of every one else out on the ice. Aaron's work ethic is absolutely unbelievable, and when you see him play, you can understand why he is #1. He, basically, is already set for an NHL season and with some time will be a household name. I am very excited to see which team picks him because he is going to make a huge impact on the game. Good luck Aaron with the Colts and your future hockey career!

Ryan is 6 ft 4 in, 200 in, and is from Wayne, Pennsylvania, USA. In the 2013-2014 season, he had 25 goals in 39 games played, 55 assists, 80 TPs, and 142 PIMs. The reason why I chose Ryan for one of the "Players of Today" was because the way he plays and the stats he puts up, in my mind, is close to the best form of player you can have. Devine is an incredibly physical player who that will work defensively and keep control of his own zone while averaging almost 2 goals a game. Yes you have players that move on solely based on their physical game or solely based on their scoring abilities, but when you have a player proficient in both of those areas, those are the ones that make it all the way to the top. I watched Devine in the 2012-2013 season and what amazed me also was his ability to conform and adapt to any team he signed with. On the Spartans he was a huge player that rattled the boards with his checks and stunned the crowds with his fighting abilities. He is a huge and powerful player that you, as an opposing player, wanted to stay clear of because if you messed with him, you were going to come out looking twenty times worse. All throughout his hockey career he showed everyone what a pro player is supposed to look like; powerful, aggressive, determined, and incredibly intimidating. I can't wait to see where the rest of Devine's hockey career takes him because he is absolutely going to blow audiences away. Good luck Ryan with the Blue Ice Jets and your future hockey career!

Axel is 6 ft 2 in, 225 lbs, and is from Goteborg, Sweden. Keeping up with the defenseman trend for this blog, he had 1 goal in 37 games played, 2 assists, 3 TPs, 139 PIMs, and a +/- of 14. Now, he necessarily might not have the best statistics on HV71, but his defensive game is amazing. When you think of the classic blue liner, you think of a big and strong skater who his very intimidating and will do anything for his team. That is Axel Eidstedt. He is a very intelligent player but when you see him rushing down the ice, get out of the way as quickly as you can. Axel is a incredibly tough player that will go through anything for his team no matter what the cost is. If he has to drop the mitts, he will do it no questions asked. If he has to work the boards and focus on a few opposing players that need to be "delayed", again no questions asked. He is certainly the type of blue liner that every successful team needs because he is the guy that will do all of the hard work without solely focusing on how many points he puts up per game. Definitely take a look at Axel sometime because his game is classic and straight to the point. Good luck Axel with HV71 and the rest of your hockey career!

Fight of the Year Biscuits and Breezers        Before I move on to anymore news, I wanted to feature a fight that I think should be up for a fight of the year in the WSHL. This scrap was between a beast from Missoula and a goon from Seattle. That's right Austin Azzinnaro and Piers LaFrance battled it out in Missoula's last home game and it was amazing. You should have seen these two go at it! It was a complete yard sale of mitts, twigs, and buckets, and by the time Auzzie was done with the Totem, LaFrance was thrown out of the rink looking like he had just met Ross "The Boss" Rhea from Goon. Azzinnaro was ejected in pure beauty style; waving to the roaring fans, excited as can be, and pumped for another round. It was an absolutely incredible fight and I have never seen a junior fight go down as sweet as that one did. Not to mention this was Austin's first tilly! He is a born fighter and obviously it comes by him naturally because the skills he ha
Jamie Zaleski Biscuits and Breezers    Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! Today you will be able to meet and get to know FHL Danville Dashers center Jamie Zaleski a little bit better. You don't come across a player very often that is so passionate about the sport that he takes immense pride in every game he plays or every time he represents his team, but today I believe I was able to talk to one of those chosen few. Jamie is an amazing player who beams passion and talent every time he walks onto the ice for a game and when you see him play, I guarantee that by the end of the game you will be as stunned as I was when I first watched a Dashers game. Zaleski is the perfect player seeing that he has the ideal combinations of aggressive and physical plays, speed, and can score whenever it needs be. I have seen some pretty aggressive players in my time but Jamie Zaleski is the definition of aggression out on the ice. His hits are almost always cle
