Biscuits and Breezers

Thank You Part 1 (1-5)

Welcome back to Biscuits and Breezers! As we all know we are in the dreaded off season. Fresh and weathered faces are returning to college dorms and the pros will start the training camps soon. Some players are headed to all corners of the globe to start a new season as well as a new chapter in their lives and some players are just meeting their billet families for the first time. Since there is not much to report on I am here to do a series of thank you blogs to all of my viewers. You guys are the absolute best and I never would have gotten where I am today with out any one of you. Currently Biscuits and Breezers has audience members in 60 different countries on all of the populated continents. 60 different countries. I think that is amazing! This time last year we were closing in on 800 views and now we are almost at 15,000! I have met some awesome people along the way and I hope to meet more in the future! How I will do this is in view ratings. There will be 6 blogs with 10 countries featured in each. I will start off with the top 10 countries that have had the most views and so on down the list! Although the first ten countries will be split into two parts due to the length. The top ten countries are as following: 1. United States with 7,057 views 2. Poland with 1,943 3. Sweden with 940 4. Germany with 570 5. Russia with 358 6. Canada with 251 7. France with 243 8. Turkey with 131 9. Netherlands with 58 and 10. United Kingdom with 50. I hope you all enjoy!

1. I would like to thank the hockey lovers in the United States for supporting me as much as you all have. There is quite a bit of hockey in the United States and believe it or not it is still growing. Nowadays almost 30% of the NHL players are American born and a string of  them have captained Stanley Cup wins and are Conn Smythe Trophy recipients. The US's WJC teams have done phenomenal over the recent years and have brought home some hardware as well. I know working with a lot of players in the United States that they are trying to get hockey more prominent. Saying that nobody can ever forget about the 1960 and 1980 Olympic hockey teams that brought home the gold after outstanding and breath taking victories! Thank you very much USA and remember Oh Mama Don't You Cry!

2.  Poland is up next and I really like that I have a pretty large audience here. The Polish national team is ranked 21st in the IIHF world rankings and prior to the 1980's they had a ranking as high as 6th. I feel that
hockey isn't quite that common in Poland but their fans are very loyal to the sport. Some of the most famous Polish (NHL) players are Mariusz Czerkawski, Peter Sidorkiewicz, Wojtek Wolski, and Kryzsztof Oliwa. The fans I have met from Poland have been so kind and absolutely thrilled with hockey. I know a group whose favorite
team is the Phoenix Coyotes so shout out to the them! One member is in a band and represents the Yotes 24/7. Even though there aren't that many Polish NHL players, the current ones play an outstanding game! You can throw in a Stanley Cup ring with their medals! Thank you very much Poland! Dziękuję bardzo wszystkim!  Wszyscy Państwo niesamowite! (Sorry about the translation if it is off!)

3. Sweden is the next country and if you have been with me for any length of time you would know that I have been associated with many Swedish teams and players. Sweden is one of the top hockey countries and produces some of the best players. To name a few we have Nicklas Lidstrom, Henrik Zetterberg, Henrik Lundqvist, Peter Forsberg, Niklas Kronwall, Daniel Alfredsson, Mats Sundin, and so on. They are considered one of the "Big Seven" hockey teams along with Finland, Czech Republic, USA, Canada, Russia, and Slovakia. Tre Kronor has won two Olympic golds and 9 World
Championship golds. I have had tremendous amounts of luck working with the scouting company Scandinavian Hockey Consulting and many other junior/college players. More and more Swedes are being picked first round in the Entry Drafts and many more are being given the leadership roles. I love the way the Swedish players play the game because you have the lightning fast goal scorers, the flexible tendys, and the board shaking checkers. Shout out to all of the Swedes that I have worked with in the past and to those in the future! Thank you very much Sweden and let's keep rocking the Blue and Yellow! Tack så mycket Sverige! Håll blått och gul kör starkt!

4. I would especially like to thank Germany for their view count because they are the ones that kicked off everything! The German national team is ranked 8th overall in the world in the IIHF rankings and took 4th place at the 2012 world championships. Their most recent international medal was a bronze medal in the 1976 Winter
Olympics. There are currently 25,934 registered German players which is 0.03% of their population. Some notable players would be Rudi Ball, Karl Friesen, Dieter Hegen, Udo Kiessling, Olaf Kolzig, Erich Kuhnhackl, and Uwe Krupp. When I was watching the World Junior Championships this year I thought they played very well and had some great prospects on their roster. Even though they only made it to the relegation round they put up a definite fight that said they wanted to be there. That determination led them to a spot in the 2014 World Junior Championships Top Division. Hopefully we will see more German draft picks in the future because I feel that there should be an increase in players from this country. Thank you very much fans in Germany for the start and good luck with your future ice hockey plans! Danke Deutschland!

5. We have come to Russia. One of the biggest and strongest hockey countries in the world. Russia is also part of the "Big Seven" and there is no surprise there. They dominated the hockey world for most of the 20th and 21st centuries and have sent some of the best NHLers. You might recognize the Russian Five in Detroit, Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin, Pavel Datsyuk, Alexander Semin, Sergei Fedorov, and Semyon Varlamov. Russia has 4 World Championship golds and 5 Winter Universiade gold medals. The
Russian bring a quality of play and personality to the show that is undeniable. You have Bryzgalov's universe fascinations,  love for Siberian huskies, and fear of bears. Geno's crazy social media posts and his success in Pittsburgh. Oh and you can't forget about Pavel Datsyuk's stickhandling abilities. Out of this world. They influence the game with their hard hitting style of play and their game at both ends of the ice. Russia has some great future players coming over to North America and their prospects are doing great. Thank you very much to the fans in Russia for all the support! Большое спасибо всем болельщикам в России! ( Again sorry if the translation is off!)

And that concludes the first part of the fan shout outs. Tune in for the second part of the Top 10 countries for Canada, France, Turkey, Netherlands, and the United Kingdom! Thank you for reading another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! Every blog will be filled with updated hockey news, player reviews, and much more. Until next remember, don't get your breezers in a bunch because hockey is always around the corner. Remember, it's always a great day for hockey and it's a lifestyle not just a sport!

Jamie Zaleski Biscuits and Breezers    Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! Today you will be able to meet and get to know FHL Danville Dashers center Jamie Zaleski a little bit better. You don't come across a player very often that is so passionate about the sport that he takes immense pride in every game he plays or every time he represents his team, but today I believe I was able to talk to one of those chosen few. Jamie is an amazing player who beams passion and talent every time he walks onto the ice for a game and when you see him play, I guarantee that by the end of the game you will be as stunned as I was when I first watched a Dashers game. Zaleski is the perfect player seeing that he has the ideal combinations of aggressive and physical plays, speed, and can score whenever it needs be. I have seen some pretty aggressive players in my time but Jamie Zaleski is the definition of aggression out on the ice. His hits are almost always cle
Fight of the Year Biscuits and Breezers        Before I move on to anymore news, I wanted to feature a fight that I think should be up for a fight of the year in the WSHL. This scrap was between a beast from Missoula and a goon from Seattle. That's right Austin Azzinnaro and Piers LaFrance battled it out in Missoula's last home game and it was amazing. You should have seen these two go at it! It was a complete yard sale of mitts, twigs, and buckets, and by the time Auzzie was done with the Totem, LaFrance was thrown out of the rink looking like he had just met Ross "The Boss" Rhea from Goon. Azzinnaro was ejected in pure beauty style; waving to the roaring fans, excited as can be, and pumped for another round. It was an absolutely incredible fight and I have never seen a junior fight go down as sweet as that one did. Not to mention this was Austin's first tilly! He is a born fighter and obviously it comes by him naturally because the skills he ha
