Midland   University Biscuits and Breezers  Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! The next College Spotlight Player is Midland University forward Taylor McConnell! Biscuits and Breezers' College Spotlight Player: Taylor McConnell Height: 5 ft 9 in Weight: 167 lbs Hometown: Fairland, Indiana, USA   Midland University is going into it's first season with a men's hockey team, and for skaters, McConnell is one of the best forwards they could've chosen to start things off with a bang. McConnell has speed, he has ambition, he has talent, and he will rise to the top of any organization he plays with. He may not be a top scorer but you can almost guarantee that he will be one of, it not the top, hardest workers on the ice at any given time. Taylor will go to any length for  his team and he will make sure everything he does on his ice time will benefit the team in as many ways a possible. He has wicked fast skates and incred
University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire Biscuits and Breezers        Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! I have another College Spotlight player for you today and this time it is Unviersity of Wisconsin - Eau Claire forward Colton Wolter!       Biscuits and Breezers' College Spotlight Player: Colton Wolter     Height: 6 ft 0 in Weight: 190 lbs Hometown: Fairbanks, Alaska, USA        Starting his freshman year at UW-Eau Claire, Wolter can boast being a reigning NAHL Robertson Cup champion, but as we all know, junior hockey and college hockey are on completely different pages. Colton, however, is going into his first year of college puck full steam ahead. Wolter checked out of last season with 51 goals in 58 games played and a whopping 102 PIMs. Colton is an outstanding player and plays an excellent game. He is the type of forward that, when he has the puck, you are on the edge of your seat because you know the lamp wi
Flow Hockey Apparel Biscuits and Breezers     (Credit to flowhockeyapparel.com)          Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! In this blog you will be able to get a look at one of the new hockey clothing brands; Flow Hockey Apparel. Flow Hockey Apparel was founded in 2013 by Calvin Landby in Kennewick, Washington, USA. Landby was active with the Basement Hockey League in Spokane, Washington for quite some time and now has gone off to branch his own clothing company. Already, it is gaining attention in the AHL and the WHL and more recently FHA has gone into a partnership with the WSHL announcing the Flow of the Month. Flow Hockey Apparel will be able to open it's merchandise to hundreds of fans and players when the company will head down to Las Vegas this winter for the WSHL Showcase. Looking at the company, it resembles the very early stages of Gongshow. For those of you who don't know, Gongshow hockey is one of the most prominent hocke
#114 Biscuits and Breezers    Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! Well, we are about 4-7 games into the 2014-2015 NHL season, and already, things are starting to heat up. Teams are looking very strong coming out of a very competitive off season and players are finding their places throughout the rosters as well as on the ice. The new coaches are settling well into their new positions such as in Pittsburgh, Vancouver, and Carolina. There have been quite a few news headlines for the show this week and here they are! (Many to catch up on so this section will be quite long) There has been quite an influx of injuries to start off a season and to name some: Valeri Nichushkin of the Dallas Stars has been placed on injured reserve with a groin injury, Joffrey Lupul of the Toronto Maple Leafs missed last Thursday's practice with a lower body injury that has yet to be disclosed, Anaheim Ducks forward Patrick Maroon will be out for four weeks with
St. Olaf  College Biscuits and Breezers   Welcome back to another blog for Biscuits and Breezers!  Here is another post for the College Spotlight series and today I will be reviewing St.Olaf College forward Joey Sundgren! Biscuits and Breezers' College Spotlight Player: Joey Sundgren Height: 5 ft 10 in Weight: 170 lbs Hometown: Cedar Park, Texas, USA If you have never watched Joey Sundgren play, now is the time to start. Joey is an absolutely phenomenal skater and is out of this world with the puck. His puck and stick handling skills are very impressive, but the attribute that deserves the most recognition is his shot on goal. He is always planning where the biscuit needs to go and at what moment in time it will get there most successfully. Sundgren dissects the game into individual steps that need to be accomplished and doesn't stop until every step is done to the best of his ability. The other thing that you need to know when watching Joey pl
Missoula Maulers        Part 2 Biscuits and Breezers     Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! I am going to continue on my thoughts from the previous game! I just want to reinstate the fact that I am writing this because this was a very intense game with many positive attributes shown (I will be doing this for other teams throughout the season as well so no need to worry) and this is the first junior game I was able to attend for the start of the season. Let's get this underway!   The first player I want to talk about today is Joey Porco. He is an incredible skater due to his never ending determination. He is always doing as much as it takes to have his team victorious at the end of the night. Joey can make a scoring opportunity out of any situation and is great at rushing the puck in order to create chances for his teammates to get points on the board. He is a player that is always reliable for the team and will su
Missoula Maulers         Biscuits and Breezers               Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! As you all may know, I work quite frequently with the WSHL's Missoula Maulers and today I would just like to take a second to discuss their team this year. I was in attendance at their game this weekend against the Butte Cobras (always a good opportunity to get scouting in) and some things definitely jumped out at me. First of all, there are definitely some players that stand out amongst the flow of jerseys. First off, defenseman Austin Azzinnaro.     What a player, it will be a tough chance to find another junior player like him. He is strong, full of confidence and aggression, and has a hockey IQ that is unbelievably high. He owns the ice every time he is on a shift and is always one step ahead. If you watch him long enough, you can see that he is always devising a plan for either he or his team mates that will get the puck where it ne
#113 Biscuits and Breezers   Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! In this blog we will be going over NHL and EIHL news, some junior scores and a look into what the week has in store for hockey! Well I think today we will start off with some NHL news considering the pre-season is well underway and the NHL regular season it just around the corner.  Starting off, I would just like to say my sincerest condolences towards Sidney Crosby and his family after the passing of his grandmother last Saturday. He has returned home to attend her funeral and spend time with his family. He missed the preseason game against Minnesota and but did return for their last preseason game. Once again my sincerest condolences to Crosby and his family. David Booth, of the Toronto Maple Leafs, has fractured his foot and can join his injured team mates considering David Clarkson has a fractured orbital bone, Henrik Tallinder has a separated shoulder, and Cody Franson ha
