Jamie Zaleski Biscuits and Breezers    Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! Today you will be able to meet and get to know FHL Danville Dashers center Jamie Zaleski a little bit better. You don't come across a player very often that is so passionate about the sport that he takes immense pride in every game he plays or every time he represents his team, but today I believe I was able to talk to one of those chosen few. Jamie is an amazing player who beams passion and talent every time he walks onto the ice for a game and when you see him play, I guarantee that by the end of the game you will be as stunned as I was when I first watched a Dashers game. Zaleski is the perfect player seeing that he has the ideal combinations of aggressive and physical plays, speed, and can score whenever it needs be. I have seen some pretty aggressive players in my time but Jamie Zaleski is the definition of aggression out on the ice. His hits are almost always cle
#94 Biscuits and Breezers     Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! In this blog we will be talking about Canada's final decision on their captain, some current injuries, a contract extension, the final hearing on Tortorella/Hartley, and as usual a couple of videos. To start off, injuries are coming up first! Although this is not an injury, Henrik Lundqvist sat out last night against the Islanders after suddenly succumbing to the flu. Most are unsure how long he will be out. The Detroit Red Wings goaltender, Jimmy Howard, has been ruled out of the line up for at least a week after sustaining an injury to his left knee again. The Red Wings organization is possibly considering that it is another injury due to his previously sprained ligament 2 months ago. Last but not least, Florida Panthers rookie Aleksander Barkov has been sat out due to a lower body injury that occurred in the game against the Buffalo Sabres. Just to give an update on Pitt
#93 Biscuits and Breezers      Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! In this blog we will be talking about the usual injury updates, continuing Olympic updates, the Coyotes' Hanzal's $5k fine for high sticking, Steve Mason's contract extension, and I have a couple of great videos in store for you so sit back, relax, and enjoy! I guess we can start with the injuries!  Defenseman Grant Clitsome of the Winnipeg Jets will be out for the rest of the season after undergoing back surgery the team announced earlier this week. There were no specifics on his injury but apparently he had the operation at the Marina Spine Center in Marina del Rey. Veteran defenseman Sheldon Souray for the Anaheim Ducks will be out for the remainder of the season after successful surgery on his wrist Friday. The procedure was carried out to relieve arthritic symptoms due to a ligament tear. Kris Versteeg, forward for the Chicago Blackhawks, is likey to be OKed to play
#92 Biscuits and Breezers        Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! Well, the IIHF WJC are over for 2014 and it is back to the daily grind as usual (until the Olympics start on February 7th that is) and we are finally back to our regular blog scheme! I have been a bit under the weather lately but now I am feeling back up to normal and am 100% back! I have a lot of news for you all today and that would include the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic rosters, the multiple NHL injury updates, and the Gleason/Liles trade between Toronto and the Hurricanes. Well, let's get started shall we?  The Columbus Blue Jackets' Blake Comeau has been placed on injured reserve due to a sprained ankle sustained in practice and he is expected to be out 4-6 weeks. Dennis Seidenberg, defenseman for the Boston Bruins, will be sidelined and underwent surgery to repair his torn MCL and ACL in his right knee. His rehab is expected to take 6-8 months. Lastly we have the injury
#91/2014 IIHF WJC Blog Biscuits and Breezers: World Junior Championships: Final Day         Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! This will be the last blog of for the 2014 IIHF World Championships because they have come to a close, the gold, silver, and bronze medals have been awarded, and the relegation rounds have come to an end. Everyone will head back home to their previous teams or home towns to finish up the 2013-2014 season before the playoffs will start in about March or April with a great experience on record. All the teams played fantastic during the games but only one could come out on top and that was Team Finland. That's right, Suomi has brought home their first gold since 1998! Congratulations Finland, it was a phenomenal win and they definitely played all of their cards right. You can't forget about the Swedes either. They fought tooth and nail to the finish even helping push the game into overtime. I was a major fa
#90/2014 IIHF WJC Blog Biscuits and Breezers World Junior Championships: Day 8 and 9 Relegation Rounds and Semi Finals      Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! I apologize that I am just now getting these out considering the gold and bronze medal games were today, I have been a bit under the weather lately but I still have to get this out to you! I am combining days 8 and 9 because in total there were only 3 games during the course of two days. On the 3rd, which was Day 8, there was the second relegation round between Germany and Norway and on Day 9, there were two semifinals games between Sweden and Russia and Canada and Finland. The two teams that have absolutely powered through this tournament would be Sweden and Finland and now they are both in the gold medal round game meaning it is yet again a battle of Scandinavia. I am very thrilled to see both of these teams competing against each other because they are two very powerful upper le
#89/ 2014 IIHF WJC Blog Biscuits and Breezers World Junior Championships: Day 7  Quarter Finals and Relegation Round      Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! This is finally the day when we have come to the start of the relegation rounds and the Quarter Finals. There were 5 games played as I had previously stated before, including the best of 3 relegation, and some of the scores ended up not what you would have expected. For example, Team USA will have no chance at winning gold this year because Russia eliminated them by 2 pts. The current gold medal champions will be no longer in the running. Hey they put up a heck of a fight though, leading the pack most of the preliminary rounds. What I also found interesting was that Norway beat Germany! They lost almost all of their games and then go and beat the Germans! Going in to the Semi-finals, Sweden will face Russia and Canada will face Finland. The final scores for the games were 3-5 Russia
#88/2014 IIHF WJC Blog Biscuits and Breezers World Junior Championships: Day 6     Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! We have come to the day filled with thrilling news. For starters, this was the last World Juniors game played in 2013, there was the massive North American rivalry game with the USA against Canada, and this was the last game of the preliminary rounds. I am pleased to let you all know that Germany and Norway will face each other in relegation rounds but for the quarter finals match ups, the newly unveiled first games are as follows: USA vs. Russia, Sweden vs. Slovakia, Finland vs. Czech Republic, and Canada vs. Switzerland. I was very impressed with the performances by the US and Canadian teams during this epic game because every player was hard pressed to get the puck, they were driven, determined, and had their minds set on winning this game. That is what feeds the necessity for rival hockey; fire. You can see it in t
