#35   Biscuits and Breezers         Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! In this blog it will all be about the NHL lockout. As you probably already know, the NHL has locked out for the 3rd time under the control of current commissioner Gary Bettman. The third time. In my mind, that is quite ridiculous. Once in 1994-1995, 2004-2005, and now in 2012-2013. Why? Why do we, as the fans and the players, let this happen? I mean as fans we pay $80-$400 on tickets alone, parking, food, expenses, merchandise, and take time out of our schedules to see our favorite players/teams battle it out on the ice. Now the owners won't even make an agreement to let us see them because nowadays the contracts always have to be bigger and better and if the owners can't have the biggest and/or the best contract, they won't let the season happen. Ridiculous! I mean the players came out and said they would take less just to play this year. Now they are off in Sweden, R
#34   Biscuits and Breezers           Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! In this blog we will be talking about the impending lockout and Shane Doan's final decision in where to sign. Starting off with some bad news unfortunately. Coming this Sunday, there could be no NHL season. The league will officially lockout at midnight on Saturday if no deal is reached. That is when the old collective bargaining agreement expires. A press conference was held on Thursday this week and things are not looking good. Sidney Crosby, captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins and image of the NHL, basically said that the players are willing to give up a lot just to play but the league is just not addressing the issues that they, as the whole players of the NHL, feel are important issues that need to be looked at. Especially that the league is not looking at the players as individuals. They are looking at them like property or cattle. That is how I see it. The owners are the r
#33    Biscuits and Breezers             Welcome back to another blog of Biscuits and Breezers! In this blog we will talk about Gabriel Landeskog's crowning moment and a little AWHL preview!! Starting off with Gabriel Landeskog. Gabriel will now be wearing the "C" for the Colorado Avalanche. Milan Hejduk has handed down the leadership to now the youngest captain in NHL history. Yes Landeskog has beat out my favorite player in the NHL, Sidney Crosby, for being the youngest captain at 19 years, 286 days which is 11 days younger than Sid. Gabriel was even surprised when this monumental event happened. Now you have to ask yourself, is he ready for it? Is this a logical choice for the Avs? We shall see if he can prove himself in later seasons. It seemed to be a decision on Milan's part of not being on the top two lines and not being a huge factor like Landy was on the team. Many feel though that he will be the captain for a very very long time, which if he is
